Upscale contemporary American food across from the Civic Opera House.

Our Review

Curved floor-to-ceiling windows allow a full view of the Civic Opera House, and the luxurious space -- cherry trim, semicircular leather booths, stacked-limestone details, white tablecloths -- attracts a power-lunch crowd. The contemporary American fare of chef Grant Slauterbeck is well-balanced and beautifully presented. Starters might include shrimp "lollipops" -- shrimp and scallop ceviche on an avocado salad, surrounded by a wonderfully fresh pureed gazpacho. A notable salad combines peppered duck, arugula, apple, and a honey-rhubarb vinaigrette; the gazpacho is served with heirloom tomatoes and crab. Entrees are also impressive: there's a range of steak, pasta, and fish dishes, plus a house specialty: spit-roasted chicken.
