An earnest guy ('N Sync's Lance Bass) meets the girl of his dreams on Chicago's el in this teenybopper romance and pop-band vehicle that does everything it's supposed to. The girl's affections are nearly alienated by the guy's friends, who persuade him to advertise to find her again—he doesn't have her name or number—and who then date other women attracted by the plea. This is of course a screenwriter's device to keep the two apart, but the consistency with which the plot turns on characterization instead of contrivance makes this movie better than many of its supposedly grown-up competitors. Eric Bross directed a screenplay by Eric Aronson and Paul Stanton; with Emmanuelle Chriqui, Al Green, and 'N Sync's Joey Fatone. 85 min.
