Movie buff Mike Kerz, the force behind Flashback Weekend's Horro'Rama Drive-In and Convention, is setting up a full-size, 20-by-40-foot drive-in screen in the west parking lot of the Holiday Inn O'Hare for this weekend's festival of outdoor movies. The only hitch is that the drive-in is actually a walk-in--bring your own lawn chair. On the program: the Chicago premiere of Dario Argento's The Card Player (July 30 at 11:15) and Day of the Dead, introduced by its director, George A. Romero (July 31 at 8:50). A second Chicago premiere, Tobe Hooper's Toolbox Murders (July 31 at 11:45), will be introduced by lead actor Angela Bettis. The convention consists of indoor showings of new and classic horror flicks, a dealers' room, makeup and autograph opportunities, and Q & A sessions with luminaries like Ben Chapman, who played the creature in The Creature From the Black Lagoon, and television horror hosts Svengoolie and Joe Bob Briggs. A live performance of New Millennium Theatre Company's Boomstick! A Musical Parody of Darkness will precede the Saturday-night flicks. The convention runs from 5 to 8 on Friday, 11 to 8:30 on Saturday, and noon to 8:30 Sunday at the hotel, 5440 N. River Road in Rosemont. Gates open for the outdoor showings at 8 each night, and tickets are $10, $5 for kids 12 and under. Convention admission is $15 each day, $6 for kids aged 6 to 12.
