Re: “The Warrior's Way

Biggest pile of crap I've ever watched, this 'movie reviewer' must have been smoking crack. Three of us watched it last night after a good few beverages beforehand, all love martial arts and related movies, and this was one of the worse we had ever seen. Do not waste your money...ever!

Re: “Mayor Rahm v. Mayor de Blasio

I agree Uncle Rico! It's hysterical that IAC would even attempt to defend his obvious allegiance to Major Rahm and the present admin in Chicago, but there he goes again, providing debate merely to distract and further distract. I mean who would spend seemingly every day dissecting any and all negative commentary about his favorites? What type of person terrorizes a reporter's views with such obvious impunity? What could make someone so empty to fill their days with defending a 'mayor' who is so unpopular with everyone in here? Simple explanations might be that he is getting paid, has no life, feels people are listening (which they're not!) or he's just plain whacko! I would hazzard a guess but in the words of Francis Urquhart 'I couldn't possibly comment!

Re: “Mayor Rahm v. Mayor de Blasio

No IAC, you excelled in self-righteousness at school! You come on after every article Ben writes and just throw muck, why dont you just go home and stay in your sandbox? Oh wait!

Maximus said it best when he put you in your place with this gem :"You are a two-bit neoliberal propagandist with vested interest in the status quo. All your arguments and Rahm apologia try to pretend that what is good for his rich buddies is good for the rest of us. It is not. What we have is a rentier economy that sucks money out of the real economy and invests them in the financial markets rather than in productive, job creating enterprises. The real economy thus gets squeezed. This is what drives poverty and wealth inequality, and all the associated societal ills: crime, disease, discrimination, low educational achievement, etc. None of that will be fixed by the status quo you are so invested in, a status quo that serves and protects the interest of the rich... at the expense of everyone else."

Re: “Mayor Rahm and the minimum wage

'You are a two-bit neoliberal propagandist with vested interest in the status quo. All your arguments and Rahm apologia try to pretend that what is good for his rich buddies is good for the rest of us.' - BRILLIANT!! That was Breakfast Club genius right there haha!!

Maximus - Thanks for anihilating IAC as he deserves. He is without doubt a shill but more troll-like than anything else. It behooves everyone to ignore him (and his long rants) however as he will continue to obsessively read Ben's columns while being a hater of everyone of them! It would be insane if he wasn't so pointed and obvious in his attempts to dismantle any reason other than his own.

Re: “The year in school segregation: More of the same

Correction: 'Capitalistic education should never be affixed to a child NOT being given a good and fair education no matter where or how they grew up. In fact Capitalism next to Education should be a known and agreed upon oxymoron.

Re: “The year in school segregation: More of the same

'We have to stop failing our children. They are our future' - I 100% agree with you Becky and the apathy I believe goes further than people not commenting on Steve's article. Parents are systematically being transformed into worry-warts and do not have the guts to call out the pressures that are being placed on them purposely. It's not fight or flight anymore, it's just a constant credo of 'me me me' being the city's only mantra, their only choice a response echoed with 'it's what is best for My children', a not unnatural response. Capitalistic education should never be affixed to a child been given a good and fair education no matter where or how they grew up, they're children for God's sake!.

It's as if there is a 'keeping up with the Jones's' philosophy being adopted (educationally as with other big issues) by most, what's being offered to all, and what is as you say a deserving necessity, a cornerstone of any society, has been consolidated by the ruling powers into a master plan not just for this great city but for all of America - get whatever the best of whatever's going and forget about what we should already be caring about the most. My feeling is that while it is obvious in Chicago that an institutionalized segregation has been waged, the politicians refuse to accept or even acknowledge the pointed marginalization of the lower classes in this city as much if not more than at any other time. All they seem to care about is their own backsides and as long as their Major/Mayor doesn't scold them they will refuse to accept the obviousness of the pushing out of any and all that do not fit with the structure that they are dictating. Any and all who rebel or revolt will surely meet the police state that will inevitably come as a result soon afterwards. These crooks will all be mostly living in their suburban homes saying 'oh isn't it terrible what is happening in Chicago, look at those terrorists destroying what we tried to build'. And then the education of true class warfare will begin...

Re: “A party for Mayor 1%

As a Chicago taxpayer, I urge passage of the Privatization Transparency and Accountability Ordinance (PTAO) to reclaim control of our city services and make sure we don't have another parking meter fiasco.

Re: “A party for Mayor 1%

"What are you going to do about it HUH?" " What GREAT IDEAS have you got to change the current regime?". When you hear these being asked repeatedly by the same people on this board (usually IAC and Really Sad) it is usually for two main reasons:
1. These are people that are (for the most part) completely assured that there is no contender to displace Major Rahm and they are in actuality mostly very happy with that fact, so they are really just baiting you. You say someone you feel could put up a challenge - ANYONE! and it doesn't matter who it happens to be, they will NOT agree with you! They will look to cut that person down to defend their mediocrity and fierce defiance to change in this still great city (This will be disguised usually with fake outright indignation by one and perhaps being cursed at by the other).
2. Their ilk prey on the mindset of the majority of disenfranchised Chicagoan's/American's when it comes to their leaders and are but armchair bullies. They pushed for the powerlessness in others that they themselves exemplify the most. Any and all attempts to collectively communicate is immediately under attack by them so that their version of order can continually be maintained by their version of ruling power. The Chicago media is part of that power and it seems squarely in Rahm's pocket. We can safely say now that it will take a major revelation to usurp the image that has been skewed by the Chicago mainstream. The 11 that went against him are only the start of what's needed NOW! TODAY!. To not question, to take one opinion in what needs to be done is not what not needs to be discussed. Rahm's TIF funds/personal spend account, the fundraising for control and power without explanation or true discovery (when that was mandated to be a leading part of his getting this position) is without doubt the main reason we have a need for that one word we have been told about for so long but have not received...CHANGE! It's time to put things in PERSPECTIVE! It is time for REAL CHANGE! #onetermmayor
