A yellow-peril melodrama that must have seemed dated and offensive even at the time of its making (1927). Warner Oland is the unspeakably evil tong chieftain who lures lily-white Dolores Costello into his clutches—until a certain earthquake intervenes. Alan Crosland directed—unfortunately, rather well.
