Edna St. Vincent Millay used the word propinquity to describe the attraction brought on by proximity; in this new play by John Enright, two classmates-turned-officemates spend a lot of time fighting off, or working through, the obvious fact of it. Even if the ending of this rom-com feels inevitable, the maneuvering to get us there is good fun: it's easy to find charm in a script that can move lightly from odd lovers to sapphic liaisons to EPA lawsuits involving beavers. Each actor in Barely Concealed's production brings a surprising specificity to play; Bryan Hart is especially pleasing as a goofily confused attorney—and I could listen to Nicole Roberts's mellifluous brogue all day. —Suzanne Scanlon
