There's enough food critics to go around.

Re: “Here's what's next in the push to lift the ban on rent control in Illinois

As reflected on the map, that's 77 precients out of about 2,000. As for the wards where this ballot initiative was available, with the exception of some areas of Hyde Park and one near the North Ctr, none of these neighborhoods are experiencing gentrification and presumably rising rents. Makes you wonder what ballot initiative was moved off the voting rolls to make room for something as irrelevant as this one? More in depth reporting from the Reader.

Re: “Is there a future for Lyric Opera?

The problem comes down to 2 words: Ardis Krainik. The current programming at the Lyric is dull, dull, dull, all the old warhorses and not much more. Krainik had at least one but usually 2 contemporary operas every season and she knew how to pick them. Where's this centuries Satyagraha?

Re: “Amazon won’t save the Thompson Center, but Nathan Eddy might

Duuuude, my god, the carpets are dirty - tear the place down!

The state has been acting like your typical slumlord: do minimum maintenance, let the place fall apart and then claim it's too far gone to save, get demo permit, sell the land. They're almost as bad as the archdiocese of Chicago.
