Bar Details

The wine bar in the back of this year-and-a-half-old Kenwood restaurant is classy and open—lots of exposed brick, artwork on the walls, and a picture window overlooking Ellis Avenue. Set in a neighborhood of rehabbed brownstones, it's understandably popular with south-side professionals. When I plopped down to enjoy a beer (bottles only) and watch the Bulls game, the woman next to me was a local business owner who confessed that she'd stepped off her Lenten wagon after struggling to teach her teenage daughter to drive. She found the martinis helpful. —Mick Dumke
