An appealing cast of aspiring young musicians ostensibly play themselves in this naive, shapeless, but often fascinating 2009 drama by Iranian director Bahman Ghobadi (Turtles Can Fly). A boy-girl songwriting team (Ashkan Koshanejad and Negar Shaghaghi) entrust their savings to a brash wheeler-dealer (Hamed Behdad) who promises them black-market visas so they can play a London rock fest, and their paper chase entails an episodic journey through Teheran's uncharted hip-hop, metal and emo scenes. This is worth catching just for the scene in which Behdad, pulled before an Islamic judge for possession of banned DVDs, intermittently cowers and rages, and ultimately talks his way out of a flogging. In Farsi with subtitles.
