This multidisciplinary performing arts festival, hosted by the Pilsen area's Blue Rider Theatre, runs through December 17, with shows most Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 7 PM, as well as children's matinees on selected Saturdays and Sundays at 3 PM. Most evenings feature two or more artists, with intermissions between each act. Blue Rider Theatre, 1822 S. Halsted, 733-4668. Tickets: $10 a night except where noted in the listings below; $60 for a festival pass (good for all performances); some student and senior discounts available.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1

The Thirst

and Murderer's Bay

Blue Rider founder Donna Blue Lachman explores her Jewish ancestry and mysticism in the first of these two performance pieces, which incorporates Lachman's live clarinet playing as well as film footage of her great-great-grandmother in Kiev half a century ago. The second piece, written and performed by Lisa Black, investigates the wavering effect that heat has on light. 8 PM.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2

Flip Flop's Big Top Circus

This matinee performance by the Pros Arts Payasos/Clown Ensemble is aimed at kids and grownups alike. 3 PM. $5; free for children.

and A Vision of Total Control

See listing for Saturday afternoon for a description of the first piece. The second is a monologue by Argentine author Griselda Gambaro about a woman filled with illusions and memories. It's performed in Spanish by the Aguijon II Theater Company. 7 PM.
