Right now I'm rehearsing a show, so I walk by here a lot. I moved out of this space at the end of last year. Whenever I see it I'm reminded of my very favorite night during the year that I lived here--one of the most memorable nights I've ever had, period. It took place on the Fourth of July. We had friends come over and join us up on the roof. We had this incredible 360-degree view of the city--unlike any I've ever seen in Chicago. We saw every fireworks display going on around the city and beyond; it was a very clear night. They just kept starting and stopping at different times, and just when you would think it was over another would begin. We saw finale after finale after finale, for an hour and a half altogether. It was like discovering a treasure that nobody else gets to see. I would compare it to what the astronauts saw looking down on the earth from the moon. Not many people will ever get that completely spectacular view. We kept saying over and over how lucky we felt. We suddenly felt like we'd hit a very good place.
