Saddled with a useless PhD and more than a million dollars in student loan debt, a lesbian recluse makes ends meet by enterprising her own Victorian-themed sex line. Across the hall, a gay agoraphobe dons wigs and connects with men online using fake profile pictures on behalf of his unknowing little sister . . . and it's exactly as creepy as it sounds. Alexander St. John's Rhinofest production of Kathy Anderson and Bill Felty's one-act is intended to be a comedy, but it's full of so many faux avant-garde tropes like microscenes and blank arty stares into the audience that it never builds enough momentum (or sincerity) to generate real laughs. Worse, the relentlessly prurient dialogue about chocolate-covered sex, dance-floor grinding, and yoga orgies reads like it was coauthored by Rick Santorum. —Dan Jakes
