You like tap dancing? They got tap dancing, and plenty of it. Andrew Lupp is years past the moment when he would've been believable as Billy Buck Chandler, a hick kid who dreams of becoming the first man to fly nonstop across the Atlantic. But he's got the requisite twinkling toes, and that makes him the perfect Billy Buck for Tammy Mader's tap-obsessed version of the 1983 musical featuring early George and Ira Gershwin tunes. Lupp and Summer Naomi Smart play out a cute, screwballish romantic comedy in between dance bits that recall cleated-shoe greats from Fred Astaire to the Ritz Brothers. One charming novelty bit has Lupp and Smart doing the ultimate soft-shoe, barefoot in a pool of water. And Ted Louis Levy methodically goads the audience into hysteria during his extended solo. Paula Scrofano, meanwhile, does a great Thelma Ritter as Billy Buck's mechanic. —Tony Adler
