If Heaven were a place on Earth it's name would be CJ's Eatery. For a man who loves authentic Down South flavor with a little Latin flair CJ's Eatery is the place to be. From the Southwestern Breakfast Burrito to the Chili Rubbed Sirloin for dinner, CJ's Eatery is quite possibly the best example of Classical American Cuisine paired with the unmistakable flavors of Latin America in the whole of Chicago. Upon dining there one Thursday night with my girlfriend I found this hidden gem to be full of surprises. For three courses I found myself enthralled by the way each course reached the table. The Maryland Crab Cakes we had for an appetizer were fantastic and served on a bed of mixed greens tossed with a wonderful Citrus Vinaigrette. For an entree I had the Mojito Chicken which was sweet and savory and served on a bed of the tastiest Mashed Sweet Potatoes I have ever had. My girlfriend enjoyed the Blackened Salmon with Cajun Cream Sauce. The salmon was perfectly cooked; flaky and with a spectacular crust of herbs and spices. For a dessert we shared a serving of Banana Bread Pudding with a Peanut Butter Anglaise. Mere words do not express the sheer joy we experienced by indulging in this dish; and at less than $20 a person CJ's Eatery is absolutely one to bookmark.
