As in a 3-D movie, the plot of this musical takes a backseat to cheap devices and pummeling the audience with hit after disgusting hit. Festering wounds get squirted, unsuspecting squirrels crushed, and we even bear witness to the untimely murder of a sock puppet (an event at once disturbing and fun). This is the fifth and final year for Cowardly Scarecrow Theatre's gross-out musical, which, despite being way, waaay too long at almost three hours, does have a certain charm. Or maybe I'm confusing that with just how damn good Jill Valentine is as the dirty-mouthed virgin Barbra (see her Fridays and Saturdays). Either way, you'll laugh, you'll cry, and if you sit in the front, you'll leave doused in blood. Or something like it. —Chloe Riley
