Residents of a crumbling apartment building in Harlem battle for their lives after a strange plague, spread by angry rodents on the subway, causes citizens to mutate into raging rat people. Directed by Jim Mickle, this 2006 horror indie faithfully follows the template of George Romero's zombie movies, generating some good fun with its TV news coverage of the developing crisis. One can't help but wonder, though, what Romero himself might have done with the idea, inherent in the movie's gimmick, that city dwellers view each other as vermin. R, 84 min.
