Master Works: The Intuit Plays | Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art | Theater & Performance | Chicago Reader
This is a past event.
Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art has offered bracing work for more than two decades, and now it's inspired Commedia Beauregard to commission six short plays, each based on a piece from the gallery's permanent collection. The correspondence between play and artwork is sometimes obvious, sometimes elusive, and the variation in theatrical styles shows no shortage of imagination. But the production’s lack of technical sophistication—in writing, acting, and staging—exposes the relative paucity of ideas. And with running times no longer than 15 minutes each, the plays feel truncated and underdeveloped. —Justin Hayford
