Re: “Medical Marijuana Is Already Legal in Illinois

Before I was diagnosed with late stage aggressive cancer I thought people who wanted to legalize marijuana, just wanted an excuse to get high. While undergoing cancer treatment I was in excruciating pain, and even though my doctor kept giving me higher doses of narcotics, it did little to ease my pain. What it did do was give me horrible constipation, headaches, and lethargy. Anyone who's had pelvic radiation & constipation knows the pain that I'm talking about. Would marijuana provide relief? I don't know, but the legal drugs certainly didn't! My cancer has a high probability of coming back - I hate to think of my last days being spent in pain, or being so over medicated that I cant interact with my family and friends at the end. Addicts are going to get drugs regardless - lets focus on helping patients find legal relief to pain and side effects.
