Bistro from the owner of the late Merlot Joe's.

Our Review

This Oak Park bistro has some of the finest fish I've had in the Chicago area -- fresh, nicely cooked and seasoned, pleasantly presented. The shrimp bisque was smooth and flavorful, with just the right peppery kick; a Columbia River salmon special with dill butter and a trout amandine were superb. The wine list is compact but well chosen; there's a good variety of selections by the glass over a range of price points. Our server was reserved but cordial. The only thing I didn't care for was the infrastructure -- this could be a wonderfully romantic bistro, but the tables (especially the two-tops) are too small, the table spacing is too crowded, the lighting is a bit too dim, and the noise level from other diners' conversations is intrusive. I'll go back for the food for sure, but probably midweek, when it might not be as crowded and noisy.
