A sister finds her younger brother through his Facebook check-ins; that same night, he meets his future boyfriend on Grindr. A son and a husband call a woman who's been dead three months just to hear her voice. If these networks facilitate connection, do they also allow us to resist intimacy in newly complicated ways? Danny Bernardo's script, which focuses on a Filipino-American family, asks such questions as part of a larger exploration of transcultural identity, love, and grief. And Bailiwick's production shines: Erica Weiss's staging is paced expertly, moving from screwball comic bits to heavier moments with ease. Not all the scenes work—there are few too many static heart-to-hearts at the bar—but where the script falls flat, these actors find truth and urgency. —Suzanne Scanlon
