In the world of bleeding-heart liberals, Julie Ganey would appear to be a hemophiliac. Even when she's getting pelted with eggs by kids trying to drive her out of the predominantly black, predominantly poor pocket of Rogers Park she's helping to gentrify with her white, middle-class presence, she doesn't become angry. On the contrary, she seems bewildered—unable to fathom why they don't see her for the winsome soul she is. And so it goes throughout this 60-minute, autobiographical monologue: unwilling to venture beyond the personal, Ganey is perpetually surprised by her dealings with the underclass and keeps wondering why we can't all just get along. On the other hand, Ganey is indeed winsome. And, this being her show, she's free to supply a little wish fulfillment, too—a lovely passage in which a few folks finally do just get along. —Tony Adler
