Bar Details

Logan Arcade is the third member inducted into the community of Chicago barcades, just behind Emporium and Headquarters. Jim Zespy and crew moved their vinyl shop, Logan Hardware, three blocks west and built a King of Kong-themed mecca, complementing an already deep lineup of quarter-gobbling games with an expansive back room filled with vintage pinball machines. The bar sits in front and has around a dozen solid beers on tap, currently ranging from Spaten to Rogue. The spirits list is what’s impressive, though, heavy on affordable quality bourbons like Eagle Rare and Bulleit. (A nonalcoholic list for teetotalers features Sprecher Root Beer and Sioux City Sarsaparilla.) Creaky games like Marble Madness and Tapper—the bartender-themed arcade game sponsored by Budweiser—are decor enough, but the colorful slabs and parts of other gutted machines that are hanging on the wall add a cool flair. And don’t be surprised to see Zespy, screwdriver in hand, milling around the arcade fixing what needs fixing—he’s definitely an enthusiast before he’s an entrepreneur. —Kevin Warwick
