Local Talent

To the editors:

Here in Chicago we have a fairly healthy local music scene (no thanks to you) with hundreds of bands. In your "Reader's Guide to the Music Scene" you advertise the clubs that offer the music (I am referring to the Rock section), but unless a band makes the Critic's Choice (and that seems to happen less frequently lately) they are ignored by the one paper in town that could and should be reviewing live shows, records, tapes, etc, thus educating a would-be audience that, try as they might, aren't able to cover the ground they'd like or take chances on unknown bands. You give reviews to the films and the plays get at least a short write-up. Why can't you employ music critics to cover a few bands per week?
