Re: “Deluxe Diner

My fiancee and I have been here probably 10 times or so since we've found it in our neighborhood. We're both very picky eaters, and really enjoy this place.

The food is, for lack of a better term, `modern diner'. It's a diner-like atmosphere, and nearly sort of food, but not heavy or greasy -- for instance, many dishes come with a big piece of watermelon, rather than (say) hash browns.

For breakfast, we always split a $4 bowl of their really good homemade granola, which always fills us both up. Every time we go, though, we always end up forgetting this, and we order something else, too -- an omelette or their french toast or something. Never any bad surprises.

For lunch or dinner, I'm a fan of their big burrito, or their gargantuan salads. The sandwiches are pretty good.

The amount of food you get for a pretty low price is one of the things that keeps us coming back. But -- crucially! -- the food is always really tasty. Lots of cheap bland stuff wouldn't be much of a draw, but we really like the food. This is, like we say, diner-y fare, to be sure -- no subtle flavourings or especially imaginative combinations. But the food is plenty, and hearty, and enjoyable. The only thing we've had that we didn't enjoy was the taco salad, which we won't be getting again.

The service is pretty inattentive -- again, its a diner. The coffee is pretty average. Late Sunday morning is probably the worst time to go in terms of finding a seat or getting your wait staff's attention; it's going to be crowded.
