Lizz Winstead | Mayne Stage | Stand-Up | Chicago Reader
This is a past event.
When: Tue., Nov. 2 2010
Price: $25
Cocreator of The Daily Show and its former head writer, Lizz Winstead is the political satirist I want to spend my evening with when the results start rolling in on Election Day--and fortunately she'll be here for it, performing her solo show, Dumb-ocracy at Work!: Election Night. Winstead began doing stand-up in her native Minnesota and gained popularity in the early 90s on Comedy Central series like Women Aloud. In 1996 the network approached her and Madeleine Smithberg to create a show about the news and how the media presents it, and The Daily Show was born. These days, she keeps up her chops making guest appearances on TV and radio, blogging for the Huffington Post, and touring. Expect unapologetic, political comedy that calls out dumbocracy whether it's red, blue, Green, or Tea Party white, and stay put after the show for a big-screen presentation of election results with commentary. --Marissa Oberlander
