Claude Chabrol's 1966 film about two couples living under the strain of divided loyalties in occupied France is a long (two-hour) film of unfailing craftsmanship, done with intelligence, but untypical enough of Chabrol to be a bit disappointing. It stars Jean Seberg, Stephane Audran, Maurice Ronet, and Daniel Gelin.
