Lindbergh Babies 2.0

One of the last improv forms Del Close created was for the Lindbergh Babies, a late-1990s group he also directed. This revival mixes a few original members with newcomers, but the structure remains the same: one player delivers a monologue, then another comes on to play off the first until they gradually work up a scene. The rest of the group sit in chairs on either side of the stage, jumping in to elaborate and spin off story lines. The energetic Babies are personable, self-deprecating in their amusing anecdotes, and fast and clever in character. During the show I saw, one player delivered a monologue about his first break-up, then sat across from another and worriedly said, "This is a terrible way to start a job interview." --Ryan Hubbard
