Let's Go to Prison

After serving three prison terms a career criminal (Dax Shepard) conspires to get even with the judge who sentenced him by getting the man's spoiled son (Will Arnett) sent to the big house and becoming his cell mate. I'm a fan of director Bob Odenkirk, but my high hopes for this comedy were dashed by screenwriters Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon, and Michael Patrick Jann, all alumi of Reno 911! Shepard's character periodically rattles off damning statistics about America's booming prison industry, but most of the gags are of the don't-drop-the-soap variety. With Chi McBride, David Koechner, and Dylan Baker, squandered as the SOB warden. R, 84 min.
