Drama
Fredric March as Victor Hugo's reformed thief, forever hounded by police inspector Charles Laughton. Richard Boleslawski, once of the Moscow Art Theater, directed this 1935 Fox production, and it isn't a bad example of the Hollywood prestige picture—there is, at least, some liveliness in the performances. With Cedric Hardwicke, Rochelle Hudson, Frances Drake, John Beal, and John Carradine; photographed by Gregg Toland. 108 min.
