lePercolateur & CRAWL :: hipster gypsies & fusionistas

When: Wed., Feb. 10, 8 p.m. 2010
Chicago's lePercolateur brings a new, hip vocal twist to the gypsy-jazz scene. Featuring soulful singing intertwined with dexterous violin solos over exciting multi-guitar rhythms and a solid bass foundation, each member of this band brings their unique stylistic imprint to the mix. lePercolateur may be remembered for its high energy gypsy-jazz interpretation of modern pop music, but the group keeps audiences on their toes with a clever mixture of vocal and instrumental songs, including favorite jazz standards and original compositions. CRAWL is comprised of composer, and keyboardist extraordinaire Paul Mutzabaugh playing exclusively Wurlitzer in this band, bassist and composer Chris Clemente, and drummer/percussionist Rich Stitzel. Three totally different backgrounds, one ridiculous sounding instrumental trio. This band has super high energy, very deep grooves, and incredible polyrhythmic interaction in an improvisational approach to original, structured compositions.
