The AstonRep Theatre Company has paired two one-acts written in the mid-1960s by English playwright Joe Orton, whose satirical farces led the London Observer to dub him "the Oscar Wilde of Welfare State gentility." In The Good and Faithful Servant, an all-powerful human resources officer meddles in the life of an elderly retiree whose illegitimate grandson has knocked up a young woman. The Erpingham Camp concerns a revolution by disgruntled patrons of a holiday resort. AstonRep's energetic but poorly paced production lacks the physical and verbal precision that Orton's comedy demands. --Albert Williams
