Re: “Fizz Bar & Grill

We were looking forward to trying out a new place for lunch and a drink. We were severely disappointed. As far as a bar serving food is concerned, it was about average. However, the fact that we were given old menus that had outdated pricing on them is unacceptable. Imagine our shock when we were charged about $2 more per sandwich, and when we questioned the discrepancy the response was "I charged you the price on the regular menu. That menu is old." Plus our waiter did not once check to see how we were doing, did not offer additional drinks, and generally made us feel unwelcome. We would not go back there again - the service ruined it for us.

Re: “Rise

Although I found the food to be average to slightly better than average in taste, it was served a bit warmer than I would have liked, considering it was sushi. Perhaps this was due to the fact that our platter sat at the sushi bar for a good 5-10 minutes before our completely inadequate waiter served it to us. We did choose to dine at Rise the first night it opened, however that is still no excuse for wait staff that does not know anything about sushi, fails to stop by and check on their tables and fails to inform the diners that items they have ordered are not available. We waited for 45 minutes from the time we ordered to be served our meal, and when it did arrive (after being taken incorrectly to the wrong table) it was warmer than it should have been, and was missing items. Only after flagging the waiter down - he made a mad dash from the table as soon as he dropped off our order - did we find out that they were "out" of some of the items we ordered. I noticed tables all around us that had the same experience - there were long waits for everyone sitting around us, as well as unexplained missing items when the orders eventually arrived. Unfortunately, I think that my viewpoint on the meal was tainted by the horrendous service. Staff should be properly trained prior to opening a restaurant, especially in a competitive market like Chicago, where service often makes or breaks a place.
