Re: “Astir in Andersonville

Dogfather nailed it.

It's rare that you have a retailer who will nudge you to experience their product ideally. In addition to always receiving explicit instructions on the best way to serve her pastries, when I looked into ordering a wedding cake for a friend which would have been delivered to an outdoor party in southwestern Michigan in mid-July, Natalie was apologetic because she did not want to compromise the quality -- with anticipated problems due to the drive and exposure to heat. To make up for this, she gave me the name of an excellent baker in that area.

I truly appreciate Natalie's passion -- she'd rather get something right than make a few bucks.

And as far as her frustration with people coming in and not buying things (or questioning the prices) goes, I get it. The mass production and mall consumer mentality is going to be bothersome to someone trying to make awesome, instead of average, things.

Once the Pasticceria Natalina team moves on it will bum me out to pass that space which will either be empty or filled with what could only be a mediocre retailer in comparison.
