King's Ransom

Anthony Anderson stars as a multimillionaire who stages his own kidnapping to frustrate his wife's divorce lawyers; his scheme collides with three other plots to kidnap him, leading to much confusion. The script, by TV writer Wayne Conley, shares some elements with the old Danny DeVito comedy Ruthless People, but humor isn't one of them. Jeff Byrd directed; with Donald Faison, Regina Hall, Jay Mohr, Loretta Devine, and Nicole Ari Parker. PG-13, 95 min.
