In this dizzy crime drama from Viable Theater Company, Detective John Fowler has some unusual problems. He's the only guy on the force interested in solving the high-profile disappearance of an underage white girl. His wife has left him, reason unclear. And as we meet him, gun drawn, he's in a tactically baffling Mexican standoff with emotions running high enough to disorient any passing dogs. Writer Vincent Truman, who also directs himself in the role, hasn't spared poor Fowler much in the way of irrationally deployed cliches. Truman’s plot holes gape wide enough to suggest an alternate reality, some Dada realm where no action makes particular sense. But thanks to the cast's grinding earnestness, there's no such trippy fun to be had.—Keith Griffith
