Khmer Cultural Dance Troupe

When: Wed., Nov. 18, 8:30 p.m. 2009
This is a rare Chicago area performance by Cambodian master artisans performing folk and traditional dance and music. Art forms were banned during the revolutionary Khmer Rouge era in Cambodia (1975-1979), yet these ancient arts miraculously survived the Killing Fields. Among the highlights - Savann Macha (Mermaid) and Hanuman (Monkey General) from the epic Ramayana, the Apsara (celestial maiden) dance (an icon of Khmer culture and history) and the Coconut dance, celebrating the rural lifestyles of Khmer.
