Katy Perry, Daylights | House of Blues | Rock, Pop, Etc | Chicago Reader
This is a past event.
When: Thu., March 26, 7:30 p.m. 2009
Maybe it’s her born-again Christian upbringing—the daughter of two pastors, she sang in her parents’ church till she was 16—but Katy Perry seems to know exactly what shade of scandal works to get the tween market buzzing. With her hot pants and her big mouth, she’d practically have a big neon arrow over her head even without the blah bi-curiosity, fuck-you-boy breakup songs, and cheerleader-chant choruses. Her approach is uncomplicated and stupid, and it’s easy to confuse her with half a dozen other girl singers—but her infinitely remixed “Hot n Cold” is the best pop song to ping-pong through the mainstream consciousness in the past six months.
