Re: “The booze at Chicago Gourmet: the good, the bad, the bizarre

This was my Husband and my 4th year at the wonderful Chicago Gourmet celebration. We found it to be a much more pleasurable experience than in years past . The food was very good with a few on the exceptional side . I am a home cook with no training , but have over the years developed my own pallet and flavor combinations . I find the simper the food the better the taste , and the more "regular " people appreciate and understand the dishes I con-cock... lol so we enjoyed the "all " of the tasting Pavilions . We love that they have change it to the "pavilion style " but wished we knew a little more before we entered the line . The alcohol and wine tasting is always fun ... but the beer tasting in the south west corner line was ridiculous... it was more like going to the Taste of Chicago with the line stretched out at least a good block out of the tent ... you didn't have a clue why you were in this line , and there was no easy way to get around it if you wished to go to a book signing with a CHEF . I hope they figure out a better way next year for this small part of the fest ... Overall WE give it a B ++ . As usual we will be there again next year as long as the prices are kept reasonable , maybe we will try to get the "free tickets by going to the restaurants in the month of September .
