Sure, eBay's handy, but it's still hard to beat the hands-on thrift score. A scant 40 miles from Chicago, more than 1,000 dealers convene the first weekend of every month to put on the state's largest expo of cracked pottery, fraying linens, dusty paperbacks, and maybe, just maybe, that medium green Fiestaware sauce boat you've been searching for. The Kane County Flea Market runs year-round; summer hours follow. On September 24 the market pulls an "all-nighter" and opens from 4 PM till 2 AM. Sat-Sun 6/4-6/5, 7/2-7/3, 8/6-8/7, 9/3-9/4 and Sat 9/24, Kane County Fairgrounds, 525 S. Randall Rd., Saint Charles, Illinois, 630-377-2252 or kanecountyfleamarket.com, $5, free for kids under 12.
