Jungle Rot, Never We Seem Whut?, Young & Dead Early Warnings (Music) Recommended Soundboard

When: Fri., Aug. 2, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $13, $10 in advance
This spring, ferocious death-metal four-piece Jungle Rot (from Kenosha, which makes them very nearly locals) bookended their career to date with two releases on their new label, Victory Records: a remastered reissue of the brutal 1996 demo Skin the Living and the new full-length Terror Regime. The pairing helps to show off how their skills have grown. Skin the Living hits like an unwarned-of storm, but Terror Regime, the band’s eighth LP, comes on like an inexorable, inevitable total war, and Jungle Rot brilliantly ride that fine, scary line between abhorring the tide of annihilation and loving every minute of it. Not bad for a band named after a disease that’s basically athlete’s foot on steroids. —Monica Kendrick Never We See, Whut?, and Young & Dead open.
