It's a shame Caesar himself gets so little stage time in Shakespeare's tragedy, since the high point of this all-female production is Maureen Yasko's regal, winning portrayal of the Roman dictator. Short on the fight scenes and female characters that Babes With Blades Theatre Company usually favor, the script is an odd choice for the troupe. Under director Wyatt Kent, their staging often drags, with occasional punctuations of energy. It's fun to see the all-male casting requirements of Shakespeare's day flipped on their head, but hard to claim that the move sheds any new light on the story. The best takeaway, especially for younger audience members, might be that there's nothing stopping a girl from becoming a great Caesar. —Keith Griffith
