An out-of-work language teacher (Jean Remy Genty, an introverted first-time performer playing a character with his own name) leaves his native Haiti to find employment in the Dominican Republic and ends up leading an indigenous life in the remote wilderness. This 2010 feature may be short and understated, but it takes the viewer on quite a journey, covering lots of different terrain, both literal and thematic. Genty is affecting as the lonely individual who claims to be "living but not really alive." When his character unexpectedly discovers happiness in the final moments, his breakthrough feels genuine. Laura Amelia Guzman and Israel Cardenas wrote and directed. In subtitled French, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.
