It's a Shame About Jane's

While eating at Jane's ["Restaurant Tours: Jane's vegetarian decadence, December 2], Jody [Stern] the restaurant critic cannot taste garlic in a Caesar salad and can't detect fresh oregano in the grilled vegetables with fresh oregano. Maybe it's not Jane's fault. Could it be that Jody just doesn't know what oregano and garlic taste like? Jody dines on chicken, shrimp and scallops, but keeps referring to Jane's as a vegetarian restaurant. What does Jody think vegetarian means?

Jody should feel silly, but not too bad. Next to your music critic love-bombing the mother of all embarrassing follow-up records, Liz P's Whip-Smart [Hitsville, August 5], Jody's critique of Jane's is merely ignorant.
