Hungary's Okros Ensemble may not be as famous as fellow Hungarian folk revivalists Muzsikas, who play the first Chicago World Music Festival next week, but they're better, conveying a rawness and urgency the more polished sound of Muzsikas often lacks. Their rare appearance Sunday is made even harder to resist by the presence of 79-year-old fiddler Sandor "Neti" Fodor, considered the last great village violinist from the Kalotaszeg region of Transylvania, who mixes gorgeous melodic invention with a downright ferocious rhythmic dexterity. The group will also be joined by the young singer Agi Szaloki and cimbalom virtuoso Kalman Balogh--who returns to town next month with his own ensemble at the Chicago Cutural Center. The musicians will offer a workshop Sunday at 3, and a concert starts at 8; both are at Saint Stephen King of Hungary Church, 2015 W. Augusta. Tickets for the workshop are $10, $15 for the concert; it's $20 for both. For more information, call 773-271-1585. --Peter Margasak
