Dear Reader:

I appreciated the notice regarding my lecture on suicide and the religious traditions [Calendar, January 21]. I was especially pleased that you explained what the term "survivor" means.

Two corrections however: One, although Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide (LOSS) is run out of Catholic Charities it is a nondenominational support organization, so there was no "proselytizing." Sorry to disappoint any who attended in hopes of some. Two, given the nature of my talk and my audience, the comment about Dr. Kevorkian was inappropriate and insensitive.
