The cast of the Annoyance’s hour-long, three-episode escapade are adept at carrying audience suggestions far afield. On the night I attended, “Elian Gonzalez” led to a story about a robot searching for his father, who turns out to be Hitler. “A four-year-old spending two days in an apartment with his dead mother” inspired a postapocalyptic world without adults, where elementary school children try to run the planet while struggling to tell time. As in Rod Serling’s original television series, each unhinged saga ends with a moral lesson, and part of the fun here is watching the rotating narrators try to find instruction in stories that by design have no determined ending. It’s a smart evening, marred only by the troupe’s propensity to laugh at their own material. —Justin Hayford
