ICA Spellbinding Sounds

When: Sun., Nov. 15, 4 p.m. 2009
Pianist Patrick Godon, founder and artistic director of ICA, will be joined by accomplished musicians including Chelsea French on trombone, Sean Whitaker on tuba, Carolina Gomez and Jocelyn Butler on cello, Elizabeth Choi on violin and Joanna Messer on flute. Musical performances will include George Crumb's Vox Balaenae (Voice of the Whale) for Three Masked Players which calls for masks, special lighting and amplification. Uruguayan Enrique Crespo and his Suite Americana No. 1 for Brass Quintet perfectly translates folklore and feelings of his home into excitingly virtuosic brass music. Alos, Beethoven’s Piano Trio in B-flat Major, Op. 97, “Archduke”. This trio surely marks the summit of his production for that medium. Rounding out the program is a work by Bohuslav Martinu; Madrigal-Sonata, H. 291 for Flute, Violin & Piano. ICA concerts are free with a suggested donation of $15.
