I Am Breathing

This intimate documentary charts the final year of Neil Platt, a Scottish architect diagnosed with motor neuron disease (aka Lou Gehrig's disease) at age 34. As he grows less mobile, Platt starts a blog to keep track of his thoughts and organizes keepsake collections for his wife and newborn son. None of his insights is particularly novel or revealing, however, and because directors Emma Davie (Platt's widow) and Morag McKinnon spend little time explaining his medical condition, the video doesn't function as a case study either. Its natural audience would seem to be people who knew Platt personally, and morbid voyeurs.
