The University of Chicago's 32nd annual celebration of the humanities features some 30 programs presented by U. of C. scholars on the topics of literature, language, religion, philosophy, history, music, and art. Department of Music chair Martha Feldman keynotes with "Castrato de Luxe: Blood, Gifts, and Goods in the Making of Early Modern Singing Stars" (11 AM, Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, 5850 S. Woodlawn). Programs are offered in three sessions (9:30-10:30 AM, 2-3 PM, 3:30-4:30 PM) at various venues on the Hyde Park campus; Humanities Day headquarters (Stuart Hall, 5835 S. Greenwood) opens at 8:30 AM. Registration recommended.
