A casually assembled Burt Reynolds vehicle (1978), sloppy and loose in an amiable way. Reynolds plays a Hollywood stuntman, worried that his days in the sun are being numbered by a fresh new kid (Jan-Michael Vincent) whose back doesn't seem to crack quite as loudly as Reynolds's does when he takes a fall. The theme isn't really developed, as director Hal Needham opts instead for an effectively cathartic series of car crashes and dirty jokes. A lot of people and things are variously punched and smashed, and a good time is had by all.
